What You Will Learn in Our Online Tafseer Classes

1. Tafseer of Juz Amma — Start with What You Already Recite

The most practical starting point for any student is Tafseer of Juz Amma — the 30th chapter of the Quran containing the 37 short Surahs most Muslims recite in their daily Salah. Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas, Al-Asr, Al-Kawthar — most Muslims know these by heart but have never understood their full meaning.

In this module you will learn:

• The meaning of every word in each Surah — including Arabic words with multiple simultaneous meanings
• Asbab al-Nuzul — the historical event or context in which each Surah was revealed
• The central message and theme of each Surah
• How the Surah applies to a Muslim’s life today — particularly for Muslims living in the West
• What classical scholars (Ibn Katheer, Al-Tabari, Al-Qurtubi) said about each Surah

Most students complete Juz Amma Tafseer in 3–6 months at one to two classes per week. The immediate result: your Salah is transformed. You know what you are saying to Allah in every prayer.

2. Tafseer of Key Surahs — Al-Baqarah, Al-Imran, Al-Kahf, Yaseen, Al-Mulk

For students who want to go deeper, our teachers offer detailed Tafseer of the most significant and frequently recited longer Surahs:

• Surah Al-Baqarah — The longest Surah in the Quran, covering foundational Islamic law, the story of Adam, Bani Israel, Salah, fasting, hajj, marriage, and the greatest verse in the Quran (Ayat al-Kursi)
• Surah Al-Kahf — Read by Muslims every Friday, containing four powerful parables about faith, wealth, knowledge, and power
• Surah Yaseen — Called the heart of the Quran, covering resurrection, the signs of Allah in creation, and the Day of Judgment
• Surah Al-Mulk — The Surah that intercedes for its reader on the Day of Judgment, covering Allah’s sovereignty over all creation
• Surah Al-Imran — Covering the Battle of Uhud, the family of Imran, and the proof of Islam against other faiths

3. Understanding Asbab al-Nuzul — Why Context Changes Everything

One of the most important — and most overlooked — aspects of Quran understanding is the occasion of revelation. Many ayaat were revealed in response to specific events, questions, or situations. Without knowing these occasions, a verse can be misunderstood or misapplied entirely.

Our Tafseer classes always cover the Asbab al-Nuzul — the reason and context for each revelation — so you understand not just what the ayah says, but why Allah revealed it at that particular moment.

4. The Linguistic Miracles of the Quran

The Quran was revealed in Arabic — a language of extraordinary depth and precision. Many Quranic words carry multiple simultaneous meanings that no single translation can capture. Our teachers explain these linguistic dimensions in English, revealing the layers of meaning that translations leave invisible.

For example: the word Rabb in Surah Al-Fatiha is translated as “Lord” — but it simultaneously means Creator, Sustainer, Nurturer, and the One who brings things to completion. Understanding these four meanings transforms how you experience Al-Fatiha in every prayer.
